Sustainable Fitness > Shame Fitnes
Sustainable Fitness > Shame Fitness
You don’t need to be in the gym every single day.
You don’t need to be on a strict diet 365 days a year.
It’s okay to indulge.
It’s okay to miss a workout.
It’s okay to be human.
Somewhere along the way, the fitness industry convinced people that if you miss a lift, eat a burger, or take a rest day… you’re weak. That you’re making excuses. That you “don’t want it bad enough.”
Remember that majority of people who are unhappy with their body and their health are in a very very vulnerable place mentally. You telling them “no excuses” and giving them the overused term “hard truth”…isn’t benefiting them.
That’s not discipline.
That’s shame marketing.
You’ve been sold a one size fits all approach to life and health.
But here’s the truth…
Not everyone’s schedule looks the same.
Not everyone’s stress load is the same.
Not everyone’s nervous system responds the same.
Not everyone’s mind works the same.
And it is NOT as simple as
“See how busy I am? I still get it done”
If it were that simple, the same coaches who shame you for missing workouts wouldn’t constantly be cycling in and out of shape themselves.
Why does that happen?
Because extremes sell.
But extremes burn people out.
For some reason “shaming” has started to sell more.
The all or nothing mindset feels powerful… until life hits.
Until kids get sick.
Until work gets busy.
Until your mental health needs attention.
Until you’re just tired.
Sustainable fitness looks different.
It looks like showing up most of the time.
It looks like training hard when you can.
It looks like walking when you can.
It looks like enjoying dinner with your family without guilt.
It looks like progress over perfection.
Real strength isn’t punishing yourself.
Real strength is building something you can maintain for 10-30 years.
Miss a workout? It’s OK.
Indulge at dinner? It’s OK.
Have an off week? It’s OK.
Consistency beats intensity when intensity leads to burnout.
Especially from a mental health standpoint. I am fully aware that exercising can help anxiety and depression…people post it…but they fail to realize…sometimes getting out of bed due to anxiety and depression is the hardest thing some one can do sometimes. It’s not as easy as “just get up and go”…
Learn how the mind works. Not just how the body moves.
They are human beings. Not numbers in your bank account.
