Mental Health Isn’t One Size Fits All
I dont know what you have gone through.
You dont fully know what I have gone through.
The fact is we have all been through something.
Whatever that something is, dont downplay it.
What is difficult for you might not be difficult for another and vise versa.
Regardless of what it is, it matters.
Everything will have a unique impact on the individual.
Mental Health isn’t one size fits all.
Just because your friend or family member went through something similar and got through it, doesnt mean what they did to get through it will work for you.
Don’t feel unneeded pressure from others to cope with something they way they think you should.
This isn’t to say their advice is wrong. It’s just not so black and white when it comes to dealing with your mental health.
I went through a lot in my life as others have. From the end of August 2023 to June 3rd of 2024 was probably the worst span of my life in regards to my mental and physical health.
When I finally started to make strides in better my mindset and my physical fitness, I didnt follow a one size fits all protocol. I spoke to a lot of people out there who have experience in similar situations or deal with a mental illness or have done things to improve their lifestyle which improved their mental health.
I didn’t follow everyone’s tips or advice to a T.
What I did was gather a lot of info from everyone and I put together my own protocol that was influenced by others experiences.
Did everything work? No, so I kept going and with process of elimination I eventually landed on what works for me best.
Back to my point. It’s absolutely fine and caring of others to want to help and give you advice just dont allow it to stress you out. Don’t become so overwhelmed with advice from others that it actually makes your starting point on the road to becoming better even more difficult.
Breathe. Visualize. What do you want your life to look like? What steps do you think you need to take to work to get there? Start with the basics and work your way up.
It will not be easy. There will be times you will want to give up again. There will be days you might feel yourself slipping backward. Embrace it. It’s in those times you will find the most growth. However, it will get better. It will get easier. That I promise you.
It’s okay to not be okay.
Did you wake up this morning? Yes, you are already starting your day on a positive. You were given another day on this earth. It’s a blank canvas. The brush is in your hands and no one else’s. Start creating that beautiful life you are visualizing.
One thing I had to do personally was saying “I’ll start tomorrow”. That mindset leads to the possibility of less productivity today because I am taking today for granted assuming tomorrow I’ll get another chance.
You cannot win tomorrow without today. Focus on today.
Whatever you are going through. Take the steps you can to help improve your life, your mental health, your physical health, TODAY. If you do that and you wake up again tomorrow, do it again. And again, and again. Small victories. One day at a time. One foot in front of the other.
While I said dont pressure yourself with the advice of everyone in your life, I am going to give you one piece of advice. To me it’s the most important part of the puzzle.
The advice: Keep Going.
Just keep going.
Youre not alone, ever. We work together. We win together. You just have to keep going.
